To This Day by Shane Koyczan
This is the ilustrated poem by Shane Koyczan. Its about bullying in school....but, it is not just that. I know that it is a really wasted topic by now, but the magic of slang poetry changes everything. Slang poetry has emotions written, plotted and imaged by the poet. In this case, the tone of his voice, the sorrowful music and the image of the video, bring out the real meaning of the poem. Watch, Enjoy!

Let's go on looking
The skit I read from "On Looking," was about how to change a dull walk around the block into 16 page long description of the whole block and its surroundings.
Well it's not completely about that, it's main purpose was to show the readers that everyone experiences a different scene. Meaning, everyone has a different point of view. Now, the concept of POV is mainly that details change for each individual. Perspectives, opinions, conclusions, even the instant in time and space.
Now, I know that not everyone notices this fact, but writing about it isn't really gonna change much. If you dedicate yourself to describe one scene, every reader will see something different.
On the other hand, the writer tells the reader to pay attention. Paying attention can mean: be alert, listen carefully, observe, inspect thoroughly. The more attentive you are, the more detailed your scene, the more specific your memory.

About me....why me?
So, I was asked to talk about myself. Actually I wasn't asked to, I was told to.
I know that, usually, in blogs, the admins have a tiny section that's about themselves. But I don't feel comfortable with it. I can say that I'm a guy, that I study and my literature is mostly mangas. That's it, I don't feel comfortable with showing where I come from, what I do, who I really am, etc.
Sorry.

Where's the violence?
Hi again.
So I recently read the short story "The use of force" by William Carlos Williams. I am supposed to see the violence in this story, but I just can't see it. Actually I do, it's just so hipocretic of me to say that it is. So I will bend the rules and prove that it is not particularly violence.
The doctor is just trying to save the girl, but she doesn't cooperate with the check up. It was not appropiate for him to go "crazy bunkers" on the check up, but he did not want to risk her life over her selfishness, so I believe that what he did was alright.
Yeah the girl bled, so what? If they didn't go through the check up, the girl's selfishness would've killed her. So the use of force to hold down the girl is completely necesarry, due to time limits. Though the shoving of the spoon down her throat is... well, I don't know if it was symbolic or real, eitherway there was no violence from the doctor. As for the girl trying to jump on the doctor, well, its either defense or just being a kid. That is all, thank you.

My thoughts on Running Brave
In the classroom I finished watching Running Brave, a movie about Billy Mills. A half white-indian that aspired to run in the Olympic games. Now I will look into the movie's message. I am sure that this is an opinion and not a fact. I can't see the movie as an inspiring experience to persevere. Back in its time, it was, I'm sure, but it doesnt really impact anymore, right now the traumas of war are far more interesting than old news about discrimination.
On a side note, since Christians were discriminating people from the beginning, when the white people came to America, they were extremely racist, and they still are. Thus all the racism happened.
Now, going back to the film, the theme of identity is eminent in the story. Billy Mills has identity problems throughout the movie, starting with him being half-indian/white. In a world that is racist towards native Americans, controlled by the white man, and studying through it. Yes, you will have such problems, because you're still developing yourself. Either way, Billy Mills sorts out his issues, gains everyone's respect and accepted himself as he is. But if it were not for racism, maybe he would've gone through a different identity problem.
